ON SAYING NO
A brand we like asked for our night — the RUA ACESA look — delivered bright, “for feed legibility.” We sent two frames from the suite: theirs, ours. Theirs read fine on a phone in the sun. Ours read like the street at 2AM, which is where the car lives. They chose the phone. We passed.
A look loaned out at any exposure stops being a look. The film that came from that no doesn’t exist, and we think about it less than you’d expect. NO is also a grade decision — you make it once, early, and it holds the rest of the reel together.
